National Health Insurance issued its first health insurance IC card also to replace the current paper card to provide the public with more simple, convenient and safer insurance certificate. This card can process writing and reading procedures of patients medical treatment database via card reader and to be validated by Safety Mould Card (SAM Card).

Introduction to Operation Team
In 2001, April, TECO linked up the domestic elites with the distinguished companies such as G&H from Germany and Hitachi from Japan to obtain the bid "Health Card development scheme" from Department of Health, Executive Yuan. Meanwhile, TECO founded the smart card department to research and invent the most fitted card reader for Health Insurance Card by combining the system integration and set up the ad hoc committee to involve in this technology growth. Our professional group that engaged in this Health Insurance Card program assisted all hospitals to execute this system successful in accordance with our most serve and accurate principles also to take advantage of the resources from the consultants of medical staff card.

The Card Reader type is one of computer connections. The Card Reader is the operational interface for medical system and for the card, also the RS232 transmission interface is provided for computer terminal. The principal purpose of Health Card is to take medical treatment such as registration, outpatient service, payment, medical treatment records, and public inquiries, etc.
